JagCard is the official ID card system for Augusta State University. Your JagCard is the property of the University and must kept with you at all times. Primarily it serves as your campus ID enabling you to access campus services and identify you. However, there is more to the card than meets the eye!
With the replacement of the old laminated ID system with the new color card printer, a number of new features are available. The new cards feature the pre-printed library barcode on the front, saving a trip to the library to get a sticker placed on the card. The magnetic stripe on the back holds encoded account information enabling the card to be used in a variety of locations such as vending machines, food services, the bookstore, and photocopiers.
The JagCard is accepted for payment at many locations on campus. If you attend sporting events, JAB events, or theater events that offer free entry with your JagCard the system will be able to authorize your entry with a simple card swipe through a reader.
Other future uses include the possibility of secure access to buildings or computer suites using a swipe reader placed on the door.
The JagCard is NOT a credit card! You can only spend whatever funds you have deposited on the card, a bit like your bank debit card. Once the funds are spent - you will need to deposit more money to continue
making purchases. And if you lose the card it can be immediately deactivated so it cannot be used by an unauthorized person.
